This is a new painting i'm working on ... im constantly changing it in the slightest ways, so although it looks finished it's not. I just keep adding things and taking things away until I feel 'it's done' - When I feel it's finished I will upload a photo of the finished product :)
Not long ago I picked up an old Victorian chair at a carboot sale, the seat was completely ruined but the frame was basically in perfect condition. Therefore I took it upon myself to buy the chair, strip it of it's seat and to completely re vamp it. After days and days of stripping it and pulling out thousands of rusty pins and nails I am now at the point of sanding down the frame of the chair. I have uploaded some photo's of my little project so far and shall keep you posted. And yess it will eventually be for sale :)
From the 17th to the 31st August I will be displaying paintings around Clyne Gardens Swansea. Inspired from flowers throughout the park they will be placed amongst various woodland areas. So everyone go and have a look :)
Below is a sneek preview into what will be displayed and a map of Clyne Gardens location. A selected show case of New Fine Art graduates from Swansea Metropolitan University - In Mission Gallery 25th - 29th July 2011
Amanda Roderick from Mission Gallery was kind enough to be our guest speaker at our graduate show this year. Some kind words from Amanda What impressed me was the diversity, the freshness and energy. Students challenged themselves, pushed boundaries in every way possible and with every material imaginable. I discovered work which was poetic, poignant, clever and exquisite. The students should be proud. - Amanda Roderick It can be both an exciting and daunting time for students. It can be tough, but I hope all of the students remember the excellent training, support and advice they received at Swansea Metropolitan University. The students were nurtured by dedicated and supportive technicians and teaching staff, many are artists in their own right and I would like to offer my congratulations for the exciting degree show of 2011 to those individuals as well. - Amanda Roderick On Wednesday 13th July 2011 my class of 3 years and I graduated with Ba (Hons) in Fine Art :) It was a Brilliant day I will aways remember.
In thinking back on my memories it becomes hard to differentiate between stories, films, photos, expreriences and what is the 'real' thing, they all get mixed together. So i have chosen not to distinguish them, yet to place them together as they are held in my mind. I am currently using a bookcase that my dad made when he was 10, with wood he found in a pidegeon cove next to his house in Brynmill park. The bookcase then went on to being used in his room as a child. It holds a connection to memory, my history and is a united material in combining these memories. I am taking 'my memories fragmented and reinvented' and positioning them onto the bookcase, engraving and burning into the wood, as a way of making visible the memories curtained within the material, and within me and my family.
The Collaboration including My Memories Fragmented and Reinvented will be in Oriel Bach 4 Dunns Lane, Mumbles, SA3 4AA this Monday 28th March till Sunday 3rd April
